S.C. TEEN COUNCIL SCHEDULE 2010

As a member of your library's teen council you may help plan teen programs, develop teen collections, create teen publications, volunteer and eat. Studio City Branch has started a Teen Council and welcomes Teens to join them as they work together to make our library more interesting and functional for this special group. (ages 12-18)

There are meetings and events, with teens in mind, planned for 2010. If you are interested in joining in this exciting process, you can attend a meeting listed in the accompanying  schedule. You will be welcomed.

There are online sources just for teens, available through lapl.org, Teen’scape, and soon, possible links through Friends Young Adult page on the Friends website to Facebook.

Teens are very busy with the changes in their lives as they prepare themselves for the challenges ahead, and the Teen Council hopes to be supportive in many of those endeavors.

The departments collection includes: Young Adult Fiction, Young Adult non-fiction, Graphic novels, Manga , Test-prep materials (SAT, ACT, AP, CAHSEE, GED, CHSPE, etc.), College and career guides, Cliffs Notes, Classic literature, and popular paperbacks, magazines, and DVDs available for check out. The materials are available in the Library system and can be very helpful for the teens who use them. It is a big changing world out there and the Teen Council wants to be a help to our local teens, while assisting our Young Adult Librarian, Margaret Trivision.
